Nice. Johan Vrancken and a couple of other Belgians living in Singapore have started a campaign to get dEUS on the line up for the Laneway festival 2012.

They're looking for more people on that side of the world (Australia, New-Zealand) to support their cause.

If you want to support them join the Facebook-group and follow them on Twitter.

According to the Portuguese press dEUS will play the Mares Vivas Festival. The festival is scheduled from July 14th to July 16th. Once again, I'll try to get official confirmation asap.

Denis saw Tom yesterday evening. Tom told him he still had hearing problems caused by his planetravels. Don't worry: it won't affect the upcoming tour.

Somebody posted a comment saying dEUS will play The Scala in London on April 16th. There's nothing on the official Scala-website (yet), but Ticketmaster.co.uk is indeed listing this gig. Presale should start next monday.

I've created a Google Map with all upcoming dEUS-gigs. At the moment it only contains one date, but it will expand in the future. The map is over here.

A bit late due to my trip to Paris, but in case you've missed the news: dEUS will (again) headline Rock Werchter. The exact date is not known yet. Rock Werchter will take place from July 3rd to July 6th. Other bands include Radiohead, R.E.M., Chemical Brothers, Kaiser Chiefs and Lenny Kravitz. More info on www.rockwerchter.be.

Found a small article about Ton Maessen, the tourmanager of dEUS, on Jobat.be, a Belgian jobsite. Not much about dEUS though.

Talking about Ton Maessen: I received a mail from Hilde Weygaerts today saying Ton is no longer the tourmanager. According to Hilde, dEUS and Nick Cave will be touring at the same period this year and Ton prefered to go with Nick Cave.

The new tourmanager will be Tim Collins, who has been working with Muse in the past.

Knack has an interesting article about Belgian bands having succes in other countries. There's a small interview with Christian Pierre about the subject. Most of the story is probably known by all of you, but i'll repeat it anyway.

  • In the early 90's only Bang! was interested in dEUS
  • They arranged a showcase in Londen (dEUS as a support act for Girls Against Boys)
  • At the showcase they were discovered by Island Records
  • They've started touring without loss at the The Ideal Crash-era. The earlier tours cost them between 1000 and 5000 euros for each show.
  • By touring as much as possible at that time, they've built up someting
  • Playing in small towns as Staffordshire wasn't a lot of fun, but they knew it was necessary to get to the point where they would like to be

Studio Brussel aired a small interview with Magnus at the Lokerse Feesten. It contains some dEUS-news too. They will start recording soon. They've finished 15 songs. According to Tom it will sound completely different from Pocket Revolution.

He also talks about the dEUS-studio in Borgerhout. It contains a big recording room, a kitchen, a terrace, a living room,.... CJ Bolland is also using the same studio. They will also record a new Magnus-album. But there's no deadline for that, since dEUS will hit the road next february...

There's an interview with CJ Bolland in Metro (Belgian free daily) today. He talks about a new Magnus album coming up somewhere around August 2008. He says dEUS will finish the new album and the forthcoming tour first. Magnus will be releasing a couple of singles in the meantime.

This could be an indication that the next tour will be indeed shorter than the Pocket Revolution-tour. Alan already mentioned this in an interview back in August.
The new dEUS album is scheduled for the end of 2007 / the beginning of 2008. If the new Magnus album will be released in August, that leaves about 8 months of touring (including the summer festivals)
