dEUS will play a gig at the Groenplaats in Antwerp next friday at 17.00 hour. The gig is part of the ending show of Music for Life, a major radio-event in Belgium. Three dj's from Studio Brussel have been locked in a house of glass for a week.

Meanwhile they play songs requested by listeners and those who take time to visit the house. With the requests the listeners donate a certain amount of money  to charity. The Belgian music-scene is also supporting the project with surprise-gigs, acoustic sessions and busking trips.

This year a stage was built on the house of glass. Every night at 21.00 there was a surprise gig. The first evening they had Editors on stage. Click here to watch footage of that gig.

Cool. The entire Tempo of a restless soul-documentary about Tom Barman can be watched online at the Canvas-website. Too bad, it doesn't contain any English subtitles for the non-Flemish speaking people.

The next dEUS-album will be released on PIAS Records (Play It Again Sam) outside Belgium. The band has signed a deal for multiple albums at PIAS. The next album will be released at the end of March / at the beginning of April. According to a PIAS-spokesman it will be 'fantastic'. Universal will continue releasing the dEUS-albums in Belgium.

Kevin pointed me to a short rockumentary about the Ancienne Belgique. It gives a brief history of the venue and features some dEUS-footage from the Rock Rally-era (1992) around minute 20.

dEUS had started the recording sessions for the new album yesterday. Producer David Bottrill and his engineer Alan Nobel have arrived in Antwerp. Peter Vermeersch will also be involved for some arrangements.

Tom would also like to have some guests on the album. They have one song that he would like to record with Karin Dreijer Anderson (The Knife), because Tom impressed by her appearance on Slow.

The album should be finished before the end of the year and should hit the stores in February.

An early version of Memory of a festival, performed in MTV's 120 Minutes back in 1995.

A couple of weeks ago the official podcast revealed that the next album will be produced by someone dEUS already worked with in the past. In an interview with an Italian radiostation Tom says the album with David Bottrill, the producer of The Ideal Crash. Bottrill also worked with Tool, Placebo en Muse.

Tom also said they're gonna finish the album before the end of the year. It should be released in february.

A new episode of the dEUS-podcast looks back on the summer tour 2010. And it looks like a lot of fun on the road.

Exciting moment during the gig at Cabaret Vert. Tom announced the next album. He said: we will we back in february with a new album.... or two!

My second dEUS-gig this summer. After a 2,5 hour drive we arrived just in time at the festival area. We had some problems as the entrance as well and were just in time to see a bit off Little Arithmetics. dEUS had a 1 hour slot so as expected they played a greatest hits-set.

Tom apologized for having to cancel the last time they were scheduled to play at Cabaret Vert (2 years ago). And I think they made up well. A pretty sharp gig. Including all the ingredients we know from previous occasions: Mauro going wild during Turnpike, the duo Nothing Really Ends - Bad Timing and the band going crazy during the outro of Instant Street.

I totally agree with Michael's review over here.

A quick round-up on the new album

• They're aiming to release it in February 2011
• They already gave us five songs during the Pukkelpop-gigs last year and the summertour 2010: Dark Sets In, I Gave Love, Paper Bones, Second Nature and Next Generation
• They have a producer (and according to the dEUS podcast it's someone they've worked with in the past)

Since I've missed the Rivierenhof-gig because I was on a holiday, it was about a year ago I saw dEUS live. You can imagine I was really, really looking forward to this. We hung around the festival for a while, saw Meuris playing an excellent gig and enjoyed some things on the other stages. We went back to the Kayam-tent when Tom McRae had nearly finished his set and managed to get on the second row. Nice spot, right before Mauro (And next to Eva (Lovedeus) from Austria)

Since Tindersticks had some problems getting there in time, dEUS had to start 15 minutes later than scheduled. The setlist was a kind of greatest hits, a short version of the Rivierenhof-gig. The band seemed to have a really good time on stage, although there were some technical problems. Klaas had some problems with the sampler during The Architect and Alan was struggling with the sound in the stage-monitors.

Highlights for me were Turnpike and as always the combination Nothing Really Ends-Bad Timing. They also played the new song Second Nature. It was the first time I heard it, but it sure is a song with some potential. Nice melody, some woehoe's but a little different since it has no typical dEUS-climax. Smokers Reflect has also grown to a 'classic' for me. And it was also nice to hear Serpentine once again.

By the way: I didn't know they had Nothing Really Ends-shirts. Noticed it for the first time at the merchandise-place.

Having seen the band for about 50 times now (and about 15 times since Vantage Point), they couldn't surprise me anymore. But the Dranouter-gig was really good, way better than I expected from a band that is not touring. Certainly not the best gig I've seen, but definitely one that I will remember. And probably one that will make it to my personal top 10 of dEUS-gigs.
At the end of the gig Tom and Mauro got flowers and they threw them in the audience. Mauro pointed to my girlfriend and we were able to catch the flowers. A great ending of a great evening. Thank you for the roses!

There's a small interview with Tom in Flemish newspaper Het Nieuwsblad today.. He says they will try some new songs during the summertour. He's not visiting any festivals himself, unless Tool will play somewhere.
He also says he's a big fan of Balthazar, another Belgian band. Tom would like to have them as a support act during the next (regular) tour.

Hi everyone, Barman checking in...

Just to tell you we’ve been hibernating in our studio in Antwerp, working on an album that will hopefully be so good it’ll make your earflaps wiggle, your legs jerk in perfect unison and your heart feel like the love-trampoline it’s always been!

We start recording this summer, so expect a release early next year.Meanwhile, some summerdates will be announced soon, so look out for that too.

On a more serious note, I would like to apologize to our Italian fans for the use of Everybody’s Weird in a Toyota-commercial. Turns out those cars didn’t have any brakes. Ouch! Nobody ever tells us anything...

According to the Portuguese press dEUS will play the Mares Vivas Festival. The festival is scheduled from July 14th to July 16th. Once again, I'll try to get official confirmation asap.

According to Last.FM and the official festivalwebsite, dEUS will play the Zürich Open Air-festival in Switzerland. The festival is scheduled from August 27 until August 29th. I'm trying to get official confirmation for this.

According to Stephan the new album might be expected somewhere at the beginning of 2011. They have writen a busload of songs in order to be able to choose which songs will end on the album.
