Yes, I was also hoping for more songs from W.C.S. (since it's 15 years old, I even dreamed of Rudy and Stef on stage). Yes, I agree, they did play merely the same songs as during the last tour. But was it cool or not? Seeing Karin Dreijer Anderson singing Slow, Hotellounge sung by Gary from Snow Patrol,...
I was really happy they really did play almost two different gigs. Only Pocket Revolution, Instant Street and Fell Off The Floor, Man were played on both nights. They also gave us three new songs. Dark Sets In was already played during the last tour, but I Gave Love and Paper Bones were brandnew. It are both midtempo songs that could have easily fit on Vantage Point.
The choir and Tijs (the extra guitar-player) really had some impact during a couple of songs. Tijs played the trompet during Turnpike and I Gave Love. Marjolein (the best looking part of the choir) nicely replaced Lies Lorquet during Eternal Woman and the rest of the choir was especially great during I Gave Love.
I've been thinking a lot about the best gig of the two. Friday was special with all the guest, but maybe Saturday was better. Difficult choice. And how about a dEUS-gig without Suds & Soda? Is it possible? It definitely is, Saturday's set was nicely balanced. And yes, they could have played it as a second encore, but then again: that version would not be half as good as the friday-version with De Jeugd Van Tegenwoordig.
On Saturday dEUS dropped their first bomb (Bad Timing) quite early in the set, while on Friday they waited until Turnpike. But then again, both gigs were merely equal. dEUS already played some unforgetable gigs at Pukkelpop and these two could be easily added to that list.
Tom and Mauro were interviewed by Studio Brussel saturday. You can watch the video here. They also talked a bit about the new album.
It will contain a couple of longer songs (The Ideal Crash-style) and they're trying to bring some jazzy feelings into the songs. Working with a backing choir has been a dream of Tom for a long time. They will probably work 6 more months on the album, but they'll only release it when it's 100% ok.

The guest musician's name is Tijs Delbeke (you should really check our Twitter account more often ). And he doesn't only play the guitar, he also plays the keys and percussion.

Marjolein Deckers will be on stage with dEUS this week doing the backing vocals. She's currently part of de Triplettes, a band who brings music from the 40's and 50's and is also performing solo.
In Het Belang Van Limburg she tells she wasn't a fan of dEUS, but she's starting to become it.

As you all know, dEUS will play 4 gigs this week. As I am going to Pukkelpop, you can expect reviews and a setlist from those gigs on this blog later this week. Tom announced a remastered version of Worst Case Scenario in a Radio 1-documentary about Worst Case Scenario. The remastered edition will include all B-sides from that era and a documentary about the album featuring the band, the producers Peter Vermeersch & Pierre Vervloesem and the people from Island Records who signed them.
It's not clear when the remastered version will hit the stores. You can listen to the complete radio-documentary here.

Pukkelpop has published the timeschedules for the festival. dEUS will be the closing act at the Marquee on Friday and Saturday. dEUS will perform on Friday August 21st from 23h35 till 00h50 and on Saturday August 22nd from 22h05 till 23h20.
